Transcription of Jal Vidyut Detailed Project Report
Given the ongoing energy transitions in the country, the development of hydropower and pumped storage projects are of paramount importance for providing greater inertia and balancing power to the grid. Eleven hydroelectric projects with capacity of 9 GW and 39 pumped storage projects with capacity of 57 GW are under survey investigation for preparation of DPRs. An online portal, Jal Vidyut DPR, is prepared by Central Electricity Authority for the monitoring of survey and investigation activities of hydro and pumped storage projects. The portal will facilitate communication between developers and appraising agencies like Central Water Commission, Geological Survey of India, Central Soil and Material Research Station and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, By providing a centralized digital platform, the portal will enhance efficiency and transparency in the process. It aims to expedite the workflow by providing real-time tracking and visibility of pending tasks with appraising agencies and developers. This portal aligns with government's initiatives to promote ease of doing business by streamlining communication, which in turn helps to reduce timelines for appraisals and approvals of DPR. It also offers a bird's eye view of the project's development status, ensuring better management and coordination throughout process of preparation of DPR. Let us accelerate the pace of development of hydro and pumped storage projects in India.
